If you’ve been using Google Currents any you may have been exposed to some of the wonderful apps on 500px, the popular photography website. Google Currents does a pretty good job with 500px, but if you want a specific and minimal app to do the same thing then check out Brilliance.
Brilliance is a 500px client that focuses on minimalism and simplicity. In fact, it reminds me of the interface of Feedly or that of Any.Do — the app is really just the photos and you.
As soon as you load up Brillance you get a random selection of photographers and can click on any one to view their portfolios. Alternatively, you can search for specific photographers at the top.
One let down of Brillance (and that keeps it from actually being brilliant) is that there’s no option to add favorites or really to do anything related to your account. So if you’re expecting a full featured 500px client (like the one on iPhone and iPad), you may be let down.
Swiping left or right will give you all the relevant details about the photography — including bio information or any of their friends or followers on 500px.
In lieu of an official viewer for 500px, Brilliance does a good job of keeping the interface simple enough. The app won’t let you do anything related to your account and viewing specific photographers, which is a bit of a let down.
But for the casual person that just likes looking at pretty photos through a simple viewer, Brilliance will probably do the job.
